Over the last few years, the Sunshine Coast Resource Centre has seen a troubling trend–the rise in people and families dealing with poverty. To complicate matters, there was a pervasive misunderstanding and misconception about poverty in the community impeding collaborative efforts to uplift those in need. SCRC needed a campaign that could change the narrative, change understanding, and change action and impact.

The “Do a Kindness” campaign changes the narrative surrounding poverty on the Sunshine Coast by engaging community members in a profound conversation about the nuanced challenges faced by individuals experiencing poverty, specifically focusing on the critical areas of Housing, Food Security, Child Care, and Transportation. Wiseblood joined with the  Sunshine Coast Resource Centre to maximize the impact of the project’s modest budget and create a planning process rooted in community-centred design. We equipped the Centre's team with the necessary research tools and questions, facilitating deeper community engagement; led workshops where both teams analyzed the findings and brainstormed potential solutions; and ensured our concepts were shared with the broader Sunshine Coast community and network of stakeholders for feedback. We created a suite of templates and copy that allowed the Sunshine Coast team to create authentic campaign content affordably, effectively extending the campaign's reach without overstretching their budget.
