Sunshine Coast Resource Centre

Doing a kindness: Fighting stigma in BC’s coastal communities.

What we did

Public Awareness Campaign, Messaging

The campaign to do a kindness on the Sunshine Coast.

Over the last few years, the Sunshine Coast Resource Centre has seen a concerning trend — the rise in people and families. To complicate matters, there was a pervasive misunderstanding and misconception about poverty in the community impeding collaborative efforts to uplift those in need. SCRC needed a campaign that could both change the narrative and challenge inaction.

The “Do a Kindness” campaign changes the narrative surrounding poverty on the Sunshine Coast by engaging community members in a conversation about the challenges faced by individuals experiencing poverty, specifically focusing on the critical areas of Housing, Food Security, Child Care, and Transportation. Wiseblood worked with the  Sunshine Coast Resource Centre to maximize the impact of the project’s modest budget and create a planning process rooted in community-centred design. We equipped the Centre's team with a suite of creative templates and key messages that allowed them to create authentic campaign content affordably, effectively extending the campaign's reach without overstretching their budget.
